I hate to break it to you, especially this early in the day but you’re going to fail in life.

Very encouraging, I know.

But please keep on reading. It’ll get better, I promise. 😉

So many of us are scared of that word: failure.

The likelihood that we will not succeed at something.

It’s this word that stops so many people from pursuing their dreams.

From reaching their potential.

From doing something that will make a difference in this world.

Because it’s hard to try something new and exciting only to end up falling flat on our face.

It’s hard to put our effort into getting somewhere and then be rejected in the end.

It’s hard to risk your energy and time for something that only you see potential in.

So many people have dreams.

But they don’t do anything about those dreams because they fear that they will fail.

And they have a right to fear, because they will fail.

Once, twice, maybe a million times.

But that doesn’t mean they will fail forever.

Think about all the great people who failed in history.

Albert Einstein. Genius of all time. He didn’t start talking until he was four years old and reading until he was seven. His teachers thought he was mentally handicapped and slow. “Genius” would be far from the word that they would use to describe his future potential. And yet after not only that but also being expelled from school along with being refused admittance to another school he still managed to make it out on top.

Thomas Edison. The man we have to thank for the light that we are all using today was told that he wasn’t smart enough to learn anything. He was fired multiple times at jobs, and it took him 1,000 failed attempts to invent a light bulb. Makes you wonder, what if he stopped at light bulb 999?

Abraham Lincoln. One of the greatest leaders of our nation didn’t seem so “great” at the beginning. At least not to all the Americans who didn’t vote him into congress or senate (let alone presidency) until he first failed one time after another. Yet he kept on running.

Michael Jordan. The guy that was cut from his high school basketball team because his coach didn’t see too much going for him (boy, he must be surprised now). He stated these words that I keep reminding myself of when I feel discouraged after failing one more time: “I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

All of these men failed one way or another.

They may not have been the smartest or the brightest in the beginning.

People didn’t see much potential or a promising future for them.

Yet these are the men who made history.

And it’s not because there is something significantly special about them.

It’s not because they possess something none of us do.

No. It’s because they never gave up even when others told them to.

They never stopped giving their all even when they didn’t see immediate results.

They never called it quits after yet another failure.

See, what makes a person successful in life is not they succeed at everything they do from the very beginning.

No. What makes them successful is that they keep on trying even when they don’t succeed.

Even when the odds are against them.

Even when their dreams seem too far-fetched.

Today, you might fail, but you have the choice to give up or to keep on trying.

You have the choice to be like Michael Jordan and make one more shot, like Thomas Edison and try one more light bulb, like Abraham Lincoln and run for office one more time.

What if you never reach your potential not because you would never be able to but because you gave up to soon?

Because you don’t see progress right away?

Because you didn’t think you would make it?

If God put a dream in your heart, pursue it.

You will never regret failing after giving it your all, but you will always regret not even trying.

Be like that wise man who falls seven times but gets back up every time.

Many people fall down and that’s where they choose to stay.

In their failure.

Never allowing their story to continue because they are afraid of what might not happen.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want that to be the end of my story.

I don’t want to give up too soon.

I don’t want to lie on my deathbed and regret not doing things because I was too scared to fail.

Because I will fail, just like you.

But I don’t have to choose to stay there forever, and neither do you.

Today, don’t be discouraged if you find yourself flat on your face one more time.

If you receive one more rejection.

If you end up back at zero once again.

That’s where many people who ended up succeeding found themselves time after time.

Wherever you are at today and whatever you are doing, don’t give up.

Even if you fall a thousand times, get back up and try again.

You never know if your breakthrough will come today, tomorrow, or in ten years.

It may take trying one more time, two more times, or a hundred more times, but whatever you do: try.

You never know if trying one more time today will be what makes a difference for the rest of your life.

And in the end you’ll never live regretting not knowing what may have been if you never gave up.

Walk strong and keep on getting back up. Be blessed! Anna… ♥

“Even if good people fall seven times, they will get back up. But when trouble strikes the wicked, that’s the end of them” – Proverbs 24:16

    • That’s awesome Cindy! I hope we all choose to do the same. Regret is something none of us will want to face, but it’s up to us and the choices we make today to determine the person we become and where we’ll be at the end!

    • Thanks Hannah. It’s hard not to care about the opinions of others but it’s so important to care about God’s opinion and purpose for our life over any expectation people place on us. As long as we follow His leading we’ll get to where we need to be. 🙂
