Some days I feel like I’m living my life to the fullest. Making the most of every second, every minute, every day.
Other days I feel like I’m just taking up space.
Some days I don’t even wait for my alarm clock to wake me up, I get up bright and early on my own, excited for one more day.
Other days I can barely get out of bed and face another long day.
Some days I feel like I’m in the center of God’s Will, exactly where He wants me to be.
Other days I feel like I’m constantly stuck in the same place, nowhere near where I’m supposed to be.
Some days I can’t fall asleep at night because I’m lying in bed with a happy smile on my face, replaying the wonderful events from the day.
Other days I can’t wait to fall asleep so that I can forget what happened that day.
Some days I really live.
Other days I merely exist.
I think we all have those days when we’re just “getting by”.
When we’ll be happy if we make it through one more day.
But that is not how God created you to live.
He didn’t create you to go through the motions.
To take up space.
To waste a single moment of your day.
Life can get hard.
Overwhelming.
Tiring.
But each one comes with its own significance.
Its own purpose.
Its own plan.
And that plan does not include you doing nothing, just getting by, and not taking one more step.
Today…I want to remind us all that we are living on God’s clock, not our own.
You have a job here on earth.
Aside from your job at work.
Aside from your hobbies.
And that job is to live for God wholeheartedly.
To give Him your all every single day.
Not just the days you’re feeling good.
And yet so many people fall asleep on the job.
Just like the ten virgins in the Bible who get tired of waiting for their groom to come.
{Matthew 25:1-13}
Instead of staying up and continuing to refill their oil to help them stay awake they get lazy and allow it to die down.
Just like Christians who instead of renewing themselves in Christ daily and refilling themselves by spending time in His Word and presence get too lazy and settle for a lukewarm life.
They let their fire for Christ die.
They let their hands down.
They close their eyes and fall asleep.
They allow the cares of this world to make them too tired to open their eyes and see…
The hurting world around them.
The people who are desperately in need of God.
The lives that they could touch if only they stayed spiritually awake.
You would never fall asleep on your job at work because you know you’d be in trouble.
But so many of us fall asleep on God and get lazy about being who God destined us to be.
You would never be playing on your phone instead of doing your work because that’s not what you get paid to do.
But so many of us get distracted by the things of this world, doing meaningless things that waste our energy, our time, our resources instead of using it to fulfill God’s calling on our lives.
You would never make the same mistake over and over again at work because you know you might not stay at that job for too long if that were the case.
But so many of us are okay with repeating the same mistakes in our walk with Christ over and over again.
We neglect His Word.
We don’t make time for Him.
We keep hurting Him with our lack of love, with our sin, and with our indifference to the hurting world around us.
Today… I want to remind you that you are made for so much more that taking up time and space.
That there is a world full of lost people that need to hear the gospel shared.
That there are people out there who need a hug, a smile, a kind word, a dollar bill, or a helping hand.
That there is a God who needs you to keep on walking with Him, to reach out to the world, to fulfill His ultimate plan.
If you are weary to keep on going, allow Him to strengthen your weak hands.
If you are hopeless to keep getting back up, allow Him to give you brand new hope for another day.
If you feel no desire or purpose for what you’re doing allow Him to renew your passion for Him and for life, and stir up that desire to live wholeheartedly for Him once again.
Today don’t hit the snooze button on your life one more time.
Don’t wait to live your life without purpose one more day.
Put your hope in the Lord.
Allow Him to renew your strength.
To make you soar on wings like eagles.
To help you run and not grow weary.
To help you walk and not be faint.
To help you make the most of today.
Today don’t just exist… but make sure to really live. – Anna… ♥
“But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” – Isaiah 40:31
God has given us EVERYDAY to LIVE. God is full of chances indeed. Giving chance to those who are in need, and making the best of life for those who already believed. All we have to do is desire to seek Christ and make Him lead. 🙂 Another night full of wisdom and refreshment Anna, and I’m blessed for the sweet rebukes…:) Thanks♥ you’re a blessing indeed!♥ #sweetgoodnight
ღ So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. ~ Psalms 90:12
“Sweet rebukes” – I like that Mae! Sometimes I feel like they could be a little harsh but when you put it that way it makes it seem a little better. 😉
And I’m so thankful each one of us have been given the gift of a brand new day when so many have not been. God really is gracious in His love for us and His continual chances to get up and try again! 🙂
I love your blog! You are an excellent writer with the gift of encouragement. But most of all I love your heart and passion for Jesus.
Thank you! I don’t know if I’d call it a “gift” but it’s definitely what I love to do (especially when I know how much it helps me as well). We believers are made for encouraging one another in our walk with Christ. I want to contribute to that as much as possible. 🙂 Hope you have a lovely day!
Anna,
That was very encouraging and so true, an absolute Blessing
Great writing
God Bless
Thank you 🙂 hope you have a blessed day!
My illness takes all energy away from me. Along with all motivation, all hope. What can I do?
That’s terrible 🙁 Honestly, when you have no strength of your own all you can do is pray for God to provide you with His supernatural strength to do what He calls you to do along with the hope to keep on going. He is our strength in our weaknesses and with Him we can do things we’d never be able to do on our own!
I feel so bad for you. God can use you in a lot of ways. Praising Him. Praying and listening to Him. Praying for others. Writing letters, blogs or encouraging messages on Face Book or blogs. Singing to Him. Worshiping Him. Talking to others about Him. Or just loving Him. Anna is right if you have no strength He will be your strength. Paul, who asked God to heal his illness three times said, Your strength is made strong in my weakness. Or something like that. If you are willing, God will give you the strength and desire to do what He wants you to do. I am praying for you.
This is great Wendy! There are so many different ways we can serve God even with the limitations that we have. Like you said, as long as you have the desire to do something, God will provide the necessary strength for it. Thank you for sharing this. 🙂
Loved this post! Definitely needed to hear this, this morning!
Thanks. If you needed to hear it then I’m glad I wrote it 😉 Be blessed!
Your blog came when I am tired and have a ton of things to do in a short time. Such a good reminder, so true, your words. Living for God sometimes is just abiding in Him, seeking His presence, praising Him, basking in His love, soaking up His strength and reading His word. It can be trusting Him, leaning on Him, pouring out our hearts to Him and thanking Him in all things. And sometimes He leads us into action, like you said, to reach out to others with a hug, a smile, a phone call or what ever He impresses on us to do. The thing I have to remember is that staying close to God, being aware of His presence, listening for His voice, following His direction, is my responsibility, giving me a job, sending me to the target, enabling me to do that job is His responsibility. Thanks so much for the reminder and encouragement and you do have a gift for writing.
Amen Wendy! Until we spend time in God’s presence and in His Word we won’t be living life to the fullest with Him because it’s that time with Him that gives us discernment for our ways and guidance for each day.
My greatest desire in life is to draw so near to God that I will always be aware of His presence in such a way that every little thing I do and say will be me just following His lead rather than my own. It’s so important to make every moment we have count. And the only way we’ll do that is if we live every moment in tune to Christ and what He is directing us to do! 🙂
I hope you have a wonderful night. Be blessed!
I echo that desire. I so would like to not know when I stop and He begins. I love your blog. It seems our minds run along the same avenues. Thanks for liking mine.
